Mrs. Lauren Toler

I am thrilled to be the counselor at Mathews and I look forward to supporting each and every student.

I attended Texas Tech University where I received my Bachelors in Human Development and a Master’s in Education in Counseling.  I also have completed coursework at University of North Texas and Texas A&M Commerce, to further my counseling training.

I have been involved in education since 2004 and joined Plano ISD in 2009.  After spending a few years as a teacher, I found my true passion in teaching social and emotional skills, as the school counselor.   Being a school counselor, allows me to work with all students at Mathews, every other week, for counseling classes.  During these lessons, we are learning how to cope with strong emotions, building a strong character, goal setting, academic skills and friendships social skills.  In addition to counseling classes, given to all students, I also work with students in smaller groups, learning specific skills such as anger management, adjusting to school, coping with big changes, family life, and testing anxiety.  I also support parents with any needs they may have through paretning sessions or parenting classes.  I work in depth with teachers to help with educational stratagies that support a vareity of emotional needs of students.

I was married in 2007 and have two young daughters and yellow Labrador.   My husband and I love to travel and scuba dive in amazing tropical locations, which I then dream about all year long.  Our daughters are the highlight of our family where we are building precious memories all the time.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me, I’d love to speak to you in person about your concerns at any time.
